About the updates: The most current firmware upgrade for the
Radiance XD is shown at the top of the list below this section. You can
check your firmware revision by looking under "Info" on the menu or by
pressing "ok" on your remote when the menu is not up. The update can
be performed with a PC and a null-modem serial cable, such as the one
included with the unit. See the change log at the bottom
of this page for more details on the updates. All updates are complete and
contain everything from earlier updates so there is no issue with skipping
updates.
Running the update: (For more detailed instructions see the Tech
Tip on updating included in the zip file) Download the new update and unzip it. Connect
up your PC and your unit with a DB9-F to DB9-F null-modem serial cable.
Insure you have a stable power supply to the unit as there is a window of a
few seconds at the end when the flash is reprogrammed that if the power went
out it would then need to be reprogrammed at the factory--don't do it during
a lightning storm!
Turn the unit on. On the PC double-click (run) the downloaded utility.
Select the appropriate com port (check Device Manager/Ports) and baud rate
(57600 usually works well). Select the desired Update Method (Auto unless
you are attempting to reinstall the same firmware version and are having
problems) and click on "Start" when ready to begin. The utility will start
updating, which will take a few minutes. A download warning screen on your
display lets you know that the update is in progress.
The PC utility will finish and tell you when it’s done, and the RadianceXD
will turn off. Turn the unit back on, acknowledge any on-screen completion
message, and you are ready to continue using the RadianceXD.
If the utility finishes with an error (due to a communication error), just
turn the unit off and back on, and rerun the utility.
Note: All the configuration information is normally retained
during an update (unless otherwise noted in the update notes below) so you
usually won't have to write down your current settings or redo anything.
Reporting issues and making suggestions: Please email us at
support @lumagen.com and give us all the details you can. When reporting
issues let us know what software revision you're on.
Production 072210- Small
tweak to the previous update to fix an output sync/loss of video
issue on some units (only seen with 1080p24). If you don't have
an issue with 072010 than updating is not necessary.
Production 072010- A
couple bugfixes to genlock when appropriate and to avoid
stuttering which occurred under some circumstances with non 60Hz
output modes.
Production 071810- Improved
Pop (picture-outside of picture) function for maximally filling
screen when Pop is performed and the aspects had necessitated
sidebars---for instance, if you're watching a 16:9 source on a
2.35 screen and you "pop" up another 16:9 source (if Pop set to
size of 50) the sidebars will be removed to use up the entire
2.35 raster. Prior to this update the two 16:9 sources would
have just filled the area originally occupied by the first 16:9
source, leaving sidebars onscreen.
Adds reinterlacing for 480p and 576p
sources. This can provide dramatic improvements to a picture
that has been poorly deinterlaced prior to coming into the
Radiance. Reinterlacing also allows for taking in 480p/576p
movies and going out at 24/48/72Hz. The new command is under
Input:Video Setup:RES:Control:Reinterlace. With this command you
can "allow" or "disallow" quick remote key control for a
particular resolution as well as turn it on/off. If "Reinterlace
<> Keys" are allowed the left/right arrow buttons on the remote
can then be used to control reinterlacing. The left arrow can
toggle reinterlacing on/off and the right arrow toggles the
field order. Depending on how the picture was deinterlaced,
the field order may or may not be important but it can be
quickly toggled to see if there is any difference. Discrete
commands are available for reinterlacing control as well and
they are "menu 0940"=off, "menu 0941"=on, "menu 0942" = toggle
field order. A new rs232 command was added to arm the right/left
arrow keys for reinterlace control, it is "ZY523X<CR>" where
X='0' disallows, X='1' allows, X='2' allows with onscreen
messages. The discrete reinterlace commands also work as rs232
commands ("M0940","M0941","M0942"). An rs232 command was added
for reinterlacing status, "ZQI17", which returns "!I17X,Y,Z"
where X = 1/0 (on/off) , Y = 1/0 (allow/disallow) for <> keys,
Z= 1/0 (active / not active) to indicate whether reinterlacing
is taking place.
Improved PAL deinterlacing and now allows
"film only" deinterlacing mode to use settings under "Enhance"
menu for 50Hz sources.
Added direct command to set output sync
polarity, "menu 01XY". X=0/1 (-/+ Horiz polarity), Y=0/1 (-/+
Vert polarity). Both outputs set together. Use menu to set them
different from one another.
Upped maximum output pixel clock settable
to 156 Mhz (useful for CRT displays).
Bugfixes: Bugfix for film mode sometimes
not getting set when changing memories. Bugfix of 1080i-50
component zoom settings causing incorrect cropping on left side.
Loss of input video under rare circumstances fixed. Loss of
output video (depending on configuration) on output 2 fixed. Fix
for inability to alter rate match settings on inactive config.
Input changes to non-hdcp sources were sped up. Copying ouput
aspect from one output config to another fixed. Copying
black/white in output config fixed.
Production 031810- Bugfix
for screen sometimes going black with no menu or video visible
(which could come back if switching to a different input or
turned off and back on). For rs232 users a command was added to
disable displaying the status screen when a <CR> (carriage
return) character is received, press menu 0927 to
disable/enable.
Production 031610- Adds
some more audio formats to the user selectable list in either
the main audio menu or the per-input audio edid menu. Formats
added were PCM 2Ch 192Khz, PCM 5.1Ch 192Khz, PCM 7.1Ch
44.1,48,96,192 Khz, DD+ 5.1Ch,7.1Ch (Dolby Digital Plus).
Production 022110- Fix
for video issue in some XD/XE units caused by a marginal timing
issue in FPGA. Updating not necessary unless you're seeing
consistent/obviously noisy/corrupted video from one or more
sources.
Production 022010- Bugfix
for an audio issue that in some situations could turn hdmi audio
output off when it was set to be on (or on when set to be off).
Production 021910- Bugfix
for an issue with the main audio menu inadvertently changing the
condition. Bugfix for masking in Pip/Pop window not always
working.
Production 021810- Bugfix
for intermittent audio issue which often affected HD audio
formats (bug originated in 011410 update). Bugfix for video
posterization issue occurring in some situations (also
originated in 011410 revision). Bugfix for not being able to
change selections on Other:OnOff Setup:Input Select command.
Production 021310- Bugfix
for bug in 021210 revision that with Pip and certain source
combinations could cause a video source to be lost until
switching to another input and back. Bugfix for output mask
command when used on inactive output configurations.
Production 021210- Adds
Pop (picture-outside of-picture) to the already implemented Pip
command. The 'Pip Setup' command is now called 'Pip/Pop Setup'
and is located under the 'Other' menu. The new 'Pip/Pop Setup'
command now has a 'Type' option where you can select 'Pip', 'PopL'
or 'PopR'. 'PopL' stands for 'Pop Left' so the secondary video
window will be to the left of the main video screen. 'PopR' is
for the secondary video window to be placed on the right. For
Pop you can vertically orient the side-by-side screens to be at
the top, centered or bottom of the picture and adjust the y
position from there. Also some small
improvements to Pip in this update.
Production 012510- Bugfix
for game mode with interlaced inputs only showing top half of
screen (bug occurred at 011410 revision). Bugfix for the Pip
Setup menu command where in a particular situation the values
would jump as you entered the command.
Production 011410- Small
precision improvement in video processing. Can now save last Pip
source/mode per input. Also added a default PiP mode setting under Other:PiP Setup: PiPSel/Mode.
The default Pip mode is initially set to "None" for each pip
source ( which means you stay with the current pip mode as you
change pip sources as it acted previously). If you set the
default pip mode to 1-10 for a particular pip source then when
you select that pip source it will use the assigned default pip
mode. Bugfix for occasionally
powering on with a blank input which could be corrected by power
cycling again. Output sync polarities added under Output:OutputN:SyncPolarity.
Fixed label alignment in input menu.
Pip swap command is completed (audio is
swapped)--the screen now blanks for a couple seconds when
swapping.
Color gamut calibration test patterns (under the 'Color Gamut:By
color' command) can now be 75 or 100 IRE.
Couple other usage improvements.
Some shorter timeouts added for the Pip timeout option
Fix for a horizontal tear with new game mode on+genlock+480p
Fix for selecting inputs 10,11 on new input selection menu
Fix for incorrect display of film/video deinterlacing mode on
status screen (was broken recently when new game mode was added)
Fix for not deactivating Pip mode after Pip has timed out. (so a
number press on the remote was still interpreted as a pip source
after the pip had timed out)
Noise improvement on SD (240p too) analog inputs--completely
eliminated some flickering seen on dark screens using a PS2.
Fix for incorrect vertical cropping with game mode turned on with
progressive sources (seen as scaling differences turning game
mode on/off).
Support added for 240/288p component sources (such as PS2's).
Recommend enabling game mode for these sources.
Added another condition to the output triggers (if output aspect
> 2.00)
Production 111609- Improved
analog component inputs for some sources that had a slight
flicker. Bugfix for setting output1 video off for all mems and
all resolutions which would turn off video on output 2 instead.
Added a "Game Mode" setting for minimizing
video latency. For interlaced sources 480i/576i/1080i are
treated as 240p/288p/540p when enabled. Enable it if needed in the menu under Input:Video
Setup:RES:Control:Game Mode. When game mode is enabled PiP,
Deinterlacing, and Enhance settings are not available.
Added a couple more Pip settings.
"Label" allows disabling the label the comes on for 5 seconds
when the Pip is selected/changed. "Timer" allows setting how
long the Pip stays on when selected (the default leaves it up
until manually turned off).
Added the Input Mask to work with the
Pip window. The ability to mask the Pip along with the new "Timer" setting
allows creation of a special Pip window for an output from an AVR or other
equipment that displays menus. So, for instance, a programmable remote could
turn on the Pip for an AVR when adjusting a volume control and
just the slice of the menu from the AVR with the volume display
could be overlayed onto the screen and after a certain amount of
time (10 sec - 4 minutes) this "volume control" Pip display
would turn off automatically. The input mask command can be
found in the menu under Input:Video
Setup:RES:Size:ASPECT:Masking.
Added an "Input Selection menu option.
Enable this in the menu under Other:Menu Control:Menu Options
with the "Input Menu" setting. If enabled, you can press the
'Input' button the remote to display a list of inputs to select
from. The list is editable.
Added the Pip swap function--used with
the 'Swap' button on the remote.
Production 110209- Bugfix
for changing deinterlacer mode settings incorrectly for inactive
config(this bug was in 110109 only and was caused due to the
addition of the new "video mode" setting). Updated rs232
commands regarding deinterlacer mode settings (for the 'ZQI15'
and 'ZY515' rs232 commands the value of 2 is now used to
indicate "video mode" deinterlacing). The rs232 tech tip will be
updated accordingly. Added
a "Video" deinterlacing mode to the menu under Input:Video
Setup:RES:Control:Deint:Mode . This is a useful option if your
watching cable/satellite type sources and your seeing some
combing. Couple small bugfixes.
Added PiP for analog inputs with the
limitation that if the main window is an analog source then the
PiP can either be the same analog source or an HDMI source. If
the main window is an HDMI source then the PiP can be any
source.
Added a new "Memory Usage" option in
the menu under Other:Memory Usage. Previously when you select a
memory (A-D) you are using it across all inputs, .ie if you're
on input 1A, change to input 2 and press 'MemB' and change to
input 1, you'll be using 1B. We've called this the 'common'
memory usage mode since the memory in use is common across all
inputs. Now you can set the memory usage to
be per-input, so if you're on input 1A and change to input 2
then press 'MemB' and change back to input 1, you'll go back to
1A---it remembers the memory you're on for each input. Either mode can be
used and it depends on what you use the memories for as to which
you might prefer. For example, if you're using memA for settings
adjusted to daytime ambient settings and memB for nighttime then
you'll probably want to stick with the default 'common' mode.
Added aspect and memory control for
the PiP window. Now pressing the aspect or memA-D buttons after
PiP select or mode have been pressed sets the aspect or memory
for the PiP window--note that if you're not using the new
per-input memory usage setting then changing the PiP memory also
changes the main windows memory. Auto-aspect also works for the
PiP now. Note that for the PiP window the 'Letterbox' aspect,
which is defined to be an aspect greater than 4:3 within a 4:3
aspect, is just treated as 4:3 (so you'll see bars on top and
bottom) and similarly the '2.35' aspect, which is defined to be
2.35 inside a 16:9 aspect, is just treated as 16:9 (so again
top/bottom bars are visible).
Added a label to the PiP window that
displays it's input name for a few seconds when the PiP is
accessed with PiP remote buttons like PiP select, mode, etc..
Added a power on input selection
option to the menu under Other:OnOff Setup:Input Select. With
this you can control which input the unit powers up on after
either power is removed or after standby.
Added a small reminder in the menu when settings have been
changed to help remember if you should 'Save' before powering down.
Several bugfixes and some minor additional menu enhancements.
Production 100109- Adds
a new command to tweak deinterlacing quality with an
"Inter-Frame motion detection" setting. This command can be
found under the menu at Input:Video Setup:RES:Control:Deint:IFMD.
The range is 0-15, 0 should minimize combing while 15 maximizes
detail according to the chip specification. The default value is
6. Adds the ability to set HDMI input type. This option is found
in the menu under Input:HDMI Setup:Type. This was always "Auto"
but can now be set manually to RGB, YCbCr422, YCbCr444 as some
DVI outputs use these other formats but can't communicate which
format they're putting out like an HDMI device can.
Default for audio mute was changed to "Long" but this only comes
into play if you load factory default values.
Production 092209-
Some bugfixes for new 12/21 point
grayscale/gamma calibration commands. The biggest issue was a
bug in the copying of the calibrated data between output configs
which could cause either overflow on bright scenes and/or
inability to go back and edit the grayscale for an output
config that had been copied from another. So if you did an
output copy command with revisions 091409 or 092109 you should
recopy the output configs (.ie if you had copied config0 CMS
data to all other output configs then do that again after
loading this update). Also a couple of other small bugfixes
unrelated to CMS.
DON'T USE- Production 092109- Turning
on/off PiP no longer results in momentary onscreen noise. Bugfix
for occasional horizontal line of noise with combing when the
"film only" mode is used with 480i in and the output mode is 60
Hz. Bugfix for pressing the wrong key in one menu command which
would corrupt an entry in the CMS gamut. Bugfix for going from
11 point to 12 or 21 point grayscale for an issue that occurs if
the original points are only 0.5 IRE apart. Bugfix for restoring
an ISF configuration that was saved more than a few months ago.
DON'T USE-Production 091409-
Adds 12 and 21 point grayscale/gamma
calibration commands (in the menu, under
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Color Mgmt:Gray/Gamma). If you change
from the 11point to 12 (or 21) your current grayscale
points are not changed and the new points are interpolated
between your currently calibrated points. Bugfix for PiP
sometimes turning on at powerup. A couple of other small
bugfixes.
Production 090609- Bugfix for factory reset setting on input
10 (bug was only in revision 090509).
NOT RECOMMENDED, ISSUE WITH 24P
OUTPUT---Production 090409-
Made some changes to the Rate Matching
feature introduced in revision 072609. Some displays are not
liking 60.00 Hz refresh (show no picture) and only want
59.94Hz so the default is now "off". Also added direct commands
to globally turn rate matching on/off. Pressing "menu 0950" will
turn it off, while "menu 0951" will turn it on for all output
configs. You can individually set the output configs as
before in the menu under Output:Configs:ConfigX:Timing:Rate
Match.
NOT RECOMMENDED, ISSUE WITH 24P
OUTPUT---Production 090309- Bugfix
for audio turning off when PiP was turned on.
NOT RECOMMENDED, ISSUE WITH 24P
OUTPUT---Production 090209-
Adds Picture-in-Picture commands. The OFF,
SEL, and MODE buttons on the remote for PiP now work (SWAP will
be implemented in an upcoming release). Also, only HDMI inputs
are currently allowed in the PiP window (analog inputs in the
PiP window will be in an upcoming release). Here's a short
FAQ on the new PiP feature:
Remote button control for PiP:
SEL: When pressed will turn on the PiP window if not already on.
After pressing SEL, pressing a number selects that input as the
PiP input. Once SEL is pressed you can continue to change the PiP input by pressing
number keys. Once a non-numeric button on the remote is pressed,
pressing a number will switch the main-window input. MODE: When pressed will turn
on the PiP window if not already on. After pressing MODE,
pressing 0-9 selects one of the 10 PiP modes. The mode controls the
location of the PiP window, its size and its density (aka transparency).
Once MODE is pressed you can continue to change the PiP mode by pressing
number keys. Once a non-numeric button on the remote is pressed,
pressing a number will switch the main-window input. To
change PiP mode settings go to "Other:Pip Setup" in the menu. OFF: Press to turn off the
PiP window. SWAP: Not yet implemented.
Will swap the main window and PiP windows. When swapping the
screen may blank for several seconds.
Production 080109- Bugfix
for change made in 072209 which disabled coax/tos audio in some
cases. Adds increased range to the A2D gain
reduction command used for component inputs. Bugfix for when
sources are turned off or unplugged that would result in green
dashes instead of a black screen.
Production 072609- Adds
"rate matching" for handling sources that generate
24.0/48.0/60.0Hz instead of 23.97/47.95/59.94 Hz. Rate matching
defaults to on and is located under the menu at
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Timing:Rate Match. With this new ability
the output mode is adjusted to match up with the input mode so
that frames are not dropped. This is most noticeable now when a
24.0Hz movie is played with the output set to 23.97Hz. When
enabled the output rate is adjusted to the correct multiple so
if you're at 59.94Hz on the output , a 24.0Hz source would
change your output rate to 60.0Hz. Fixed an issue with spdif
audio in at non 48khz rates to HDMI outputs. Fixed an issue
with automatic display modes (added in 071309) where it would
undesirably revert to 480p.
Production 072209-
Couple of audio issue fixes. Fixed an
issue of the Radiance spdif out going to a McIntosh MX132 prepro.
In the Radiance audio menu a setting of "Basic" for spdif out
will now work with the McIntosh (the "Normal" mode will not , so
use "Basic"). Fixed an issue with the Meridian HD621 audio
processor where it did not see Dolby/DTS from the Radiance
(affected both spdif/TOS and hdmi audio inputs on the Radiance).
Production 071309- Added
new automatic display mode for output. This mode will configure
your output based on information read from the display. The 2
automatic modes are called "auto_p1" and "auto_p2". Since
there are 2 output ports you can choose which one is given
priority for setting the mode, so with "auto_p1", output1 is
checked first for a valid mode, then output 2, and if neither
has a valid mode then 480p is used.
Production 070209- Added
ability to manually override the automatic input aspect. Just
press an input aspect as you normally would and the current
automatic aspect is overridden. You can go back to the current
automatic aspect on the current input by reselecting the current
input or just by pressing the "input" button by itself. There's
also another field in the auto aspect menu which allows a manual
input aspect override to be 'sticky' or not. If 'sticky' is off
and the source sends new input aspect information then the input
aspect will change to the new aspect automatically. If 'sticky'
is on then the manually selected input aspect will be used until
you reselect the current input or press the 'input' button by
itself.
Production 070109-
Added automatic input aspect selection for
HDMI inputs which can be enabled on a per-input memory basis.
Look for it in the menu under "Input X:HDMI Setup: Auto Aspect".
Added inverse options on output triggers. Added rs232 commands
for input deinterlacing mode ("ZY515") and input vertical shift
selections ("ZY516"). See newly updated
rs232 tech tip
11 for usage details. Couple small bugfixes.
Production 060209-
More bugfixes for the 052509 revision.
Fixed vertical input masking and vertical shift for "film only"
mode. Fix for chroma resolution loss. Fix for corrupted
horizontal lines in video when using NLS in some cases.
Production 052609- Fixes
some 601/709 colorspace issues arising from changes in the
052509 revision. Also, a bugfix for case when zoomstep set to 5%
and 2.35 input aspect with 2.35 output aspect resulted in a
slightly scaled image when it should not have been. Couple other
small bugfixes.
Production 052509-
Replaced "Film Bias" deinterlacing mode
(which was ineffective) with a new "Film Only" mode. This new
deinterlacing mode fixes deinterlacing issues seen in film
sequences from Gladiator to Lord of the RIngs to
Battlestar Galactica (TV shows are often shot as film). In some
film sequences the "Auto" mode incorrectly drops to video mode
which can cause a flickering effect with thin horizontal lines
and can make 24/48/72 Hz output stutter. The new "film only"
mode always stays in film mode and is only engaged with
interlaced sources. Also, when using the new film mode the
settings under the enhance menu are disabled. For
24p/48/24sf/72hz output modes the new film mode is probably the
best option since it's implied with these output modes that
you're watching a film source. Improvement can be seen for 50
and 60Hz output modes with film sources but if you're using a
source that outputs both video and film you may want to use a
different memory to quickly enable it. A new 72Hz output
mode was added. It is 817x1920-71.93Hz and is listed as 817p72
in the mode list. This new mode is ideal for 2.35 movies shown
on a 2.35 display with a 72Hz capable projector. Bugfx for an
HDMI audio output issue. Bugfix for adjusting inactive
graybar level and incorrectly affecting the active graybar. Fix
for an issue of "softness" with svideo and composite sources.
Production 050509- Fixes
a couple of rs232 command interface issues (the rs232 output
color/hue command for red and green only worked with output
config 0 and if a test pattern was up and the rs232 power on
command was issued then a small cyan box would appear onscreen.
Production 050109-
Fixes an issue which caused occasional
loss of video , sometimes after working for hours, in revisions
032909-040309. Adds an additional setting for output audio SPDIF
control, the old setting of "On" is now "On Norm". The newly
added setting is "On Basic" and was found to fix Coax/TOS to an
older Yamaha YSP-1100. Adds a separate timeout option for test
patterns in the menu under Other:Menu Control:Timeouts
Production 040309- Audio improvement for format changes (saw
a case with an MC12 going from 96Khz to 48Khz) that would
sometimes cause a short burst of static even with the Radiance
long mute setting. Note that the PS3 connected direct to the
MC12 also gave a burst of static on the format change. A similar
issue was fixed with format changes and some sources resulting
in silence. Another sw fix was made to prevent video stutter
with an inactive component connected to a Radiance output (saw
case with one particular component).
Production 031609-
(replaces 031509 which had an issue with
genlock) Previous update had some marginal timing
on video outputs. Also a bugfix for video tear towards top of
picture that occurred under some conditions (the case we
were looking at was with 576i and letterbox aspect). Also fixed
a bug where sometimes the input mode was not correctly detected.
Bugfix for turning genlock off/on between memories on an input.
Production 030309-
Bugfix for video noise issue (intermittent
flash of lines) that occurs with some sources and was also
dependent on the Radiance configuration. Couple other small
bugfixes. Added another setting for output triggers in
order for correct results when using rs232 control, the new
setting for the output triggers i s "Under RS232 control". Added
3 new color test patterns (desaturated red, green and blue). The
patterns are intended for CMS calibration. The patterns use 75%
(191/255 if using 8bpp values) for the patterns primary color
and 37% (96/255 using 8bp) for the other 2 primaries. So for the
desaturated red pattern, r=75%, g=37%, b=37%. Added a new rs232
test pattern command ("ZY7T") to access all test patterns see
updated
rs232 tech tip
11 (old rs232 commands accessed most but not all).
Added rs232 command to control output color format ("ZY46"), see
rs232 tech tip.
Production 021109-
Quicker restarting of audio on picture
format changes and audio interruption seen on set-top boxes with
channel changes or skipping through recorded material. A new
per-input menu setting was added for this called Mute Control
and it's under Input:Audio Setup. Can be set to "Short" or
"Long" and will default to Short. Bugfix for an issue with
passing back video EDID from a display to the source (bug
present in 0126-0207).
Production 020709-
Bugfix for 012609-020209 firmware relating
to video noise issues and 24p output not working on some
systems. Bugfix for purple/green screen sometimes occurring.
Audio fix for switching between 2 multi channel PCM sources and
losing some channels. Bugfix for DirectTV HDMI audio in not
working on latest releases. Bugfix for blanked screen being left
green.
Production 020209-
Bugfix for hw precision improvements in
012609-020109 revisions that could cause horizontal streaking in
some scenes. Bugfix for switching to an input and sometimes
getting incorrect color (in one case switching to component and
getting pinkish color with the input type getting set to Scart
incorrectly).
Production 013009-
Bugfix for HDMI audio format change
problem in 012609 sw. Added rs232 command to toggle HDMI inputs'
hotplug (ZY520) -see updated
rs232 tech tip
11 .
Production 012609-
Some small precision improvements in
programmable video datapath. Fix for a case of passthru video
EDID which would result in no video. Bugfix for setting
black/white on inactive output config which didn't always work
correctly. Bugfix for audio issue with Halcro SSP220.
(This replaces the 012509 release posted yesterday)
Production 011609-
Bugfix for switching from a component
input (with 1080i-50 source) to hdmi input which resulted in the
video being shifted to the right.
Production 010209-
Bug in 122708 with 601/709 input format was fixed. Fix for an
output turned off that is also set to YCbCr output to have a
black screen rather than green.
Production 122708-
Couple of bugfixes for switching between
the 2 Radiance outputs. Bugfix for incorrectly setting the audio
src of an HDMI input when performing a copy. Modified the input
label command to more easily access lower case letters
Production 121208-
Added per input memory custom audio EDID option for HDMI inputs
in the menu at Input:Audio Setup:Audio EDID. This allows you to
override the global audio EDID settings (configured under the
main audio menu) on any input memory desired. Bugfix for
mosquito noise setting sometimes not getting applied. Other
small bugfixes.
Production 120708-
Bugfix for test patterns being shrunk in
the upper left corner of the screen under certain conditions.
Bugfix for "NA" sometimes showing up as the input mode on the
info screen.
Production 120608-
Bugfix for sometimes getting strange output configuration
parameters under the Output:Output 1 and Output 2 menus. Bug has
been present since 102608 revision.
Production 120408-
Added several new capabilities to output
dithering (Output:ConfigX:HDMI Format:Dither) to help some LCD
and plasma displays. Numerous label changes in menu: Color/Hue -> ColorDecoder, Contrast ->White, Color Temp -> Gray/Gamma, and
other smaller changes. Added some more test pattern access for
rs232 so "tqXX" - "tvXX" gives large window patterns
red, grn, blue, yell, cyan, mag. Added menu placement option to keep
center of screen clear under Other:Menu Control:Menu Options
(can also be set via rs232 with new ZY command---see updated
rs232 tech tip
11 ). Added rs232 ZD command to set rs232
delimiter setting. Added another delimiter option to use command
count and checksums with rs232 commands. Added options to factory reset command in
menu which now allows for only resetting the current input
memory, current output config, or everything. Added support for
several more analog RGBHV modes (800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024
all at 60Hz) and improved mode detection for RGBHV.
Production 111808-
Bugfix for blanked output with genlock on and source turned off.
Adds an optional top-level menu item labeled "Quick Keys" which
can be turned on in the menu under Other:Menu Control:Menu
Options. It gives users with programmable remotes that have
limited numbers of buttons an easy way to access some command
buttons in the menu (like input aspects, memories). Improved
rs232 command processing and adds some rs232 options for
delimiters and acknowledgements in the menu under Other:RS-232
Setup. See updated
rs232 tech tip
11 for complete details.
Production 111208-
Fix for multi-channel audio issue where
only 2 of 5 channels on HDMI would be seen by receiver (instance
seen here was with a Denon 3808).Adds more rs232 setup and query
commands for control systems, see updated
rs232 tech tip
11 for complete details.
Beta 110608-
Fix for occasional pip-like version of
video in upper left corner seen occasionally when switching from
576p to 1080i-50. Fix for spdif audio out problem in revision
110508.
Beta 110508-
A few rs232 additions. Adds the "ZBc" command to set the
character for an onscreen block in conjunction with onscreen
rs232 messages. Adds an rs232 nop character (_). Adds a <CR><LF>
as terminators for rs232 query responses. Adds a power-on query
command (ZQS02). See the new
rs232 tech tip
11 for complete
details. Fourth press of "Ok" leavers screen clear instead
of going back to start of info screens. Couple small HDMI audio
bugfixes. Refined the switching of output configs when changing
memories.
Beta 110108-
Adds rs232 powerup/down output messages for controlling another
device. The message settings are in the menu under Other:OnOff
Setup. Adds rs232 status query commands--this is so control
software running on another device can interrogate the Radiance
via rs232 as to it's status. If you're in need of documentation
of these commands please email us at
support@lumagen. A bugfix for downscaling 1080
sources to 480p output resolution (bug was only in 102608
revision). Bugfix for 2.35 input aspect selection of output
aspect (only in 102608). Bugfix for sometimes not setting input
color format correctly.
Beta 102608-
Adds a second 1080p-48 output mode (1080p48_B) for JVC HD10K.
Adds the ability to handle video sources with non-standard
horizontal front porches on HDMI inputs (an issue with Topfield
PVR). Adds the ability to edit inactive input resolution
submemory settings as well as inactive input aspect settings. Corrected internal setting for deinterlacer. Fixes an
issue with the far right edge for 480/576 video sources when
scaled up. Fixes a bug where editing color temp values would
clear the output mask and output shrink values. Bugfix for not
always displaying the correct deinterlacer firmware version
date. Bugfix for swapped Mosquito & Block noise settings,
no visual change to video but you'll notice the labels were
swapped. Other bugfixes.
Beta 102308-
Bugfix for some displays losing picture with genlock on. Bugfix
for cropping issue on right side. Bugfix for field flip
initialization. Bugfix for HDMI audio not always working right
in rev 100208. Adds 5% steps for test patterns accessed via
rs232 (use same format tXMM but allows MM to be 11-20 which
corresponds to 5%-95% stepping by 10%). Allows 24p in to 24p,24sf
or 48p out
to have genlock disabled (you can not disable it for interlaced
input with 24p,24sf, or 48p output since it can't work without
it). Adds "video off" status to lower part
of menu display. Adds tabbing thru the Info screens with the
'Ok' as well as 'Alt' button on the remote. Adds current output config to 1st page of Info screen and audio source to 2nd page.
Adds disabling the remote controls left & right arrow aspect
ratio selection (under Other:Remote Ctl). Other small bugfixes. Beta 101808-102208 were
replaced, they
had some powerup and initialization issues under some
conditions.
Beta 100208-
Adds genlocking of output video to the source. Genlocking
reduces video delay and insures that frames are not occasionally
dropped (or doubled) to stay in sync. With genlock enabled we
can also convert 1080i/480i film sources to 24Hz, 48Hz or 24sF
output. Genlocking is by default set to
Disabledon all inputs. Genlock can be set to
Auto under Input:Video Setup:RES:Control:Genlock .
Under some situations genlock will be turned on whether you've
got it set to Auto or Disabled---such as if the input is 60Hz,
interlaced and your output mode is 24Hz,24Sf, or 48Hz.
When genlocking is on you may notice that it takes a little
longer to get a picture when the source changes resolutions. So
for sources that change their resolutions often ( like some set top boxes) you may choose to leave it
disabled. You can check the status of genlock on the 2nd page of the
info screen (press 'Ok' then 'Alt'). Fixed an issue with analog
audio to HDMI audio output not always working. Since there were more than the usual changes to
accommodate these new capabilities we've labeled this a Beta
release. We think this is a very clean update, but as always, if
you do run into a problematic bug you can go back
to an older update until we fix it.
Production
090208- Small update from
082908 which corrects new output Black/Contrast commands so they
affect the adjustable test patterns. Adds two new rs232 commands
"tR" and "tA" which sets the mode for subsequent rs232 test
pattern commands to either Reference or Adjustable patterns,
respectively. WARNING:
Do not do a "force update" with this particular revision.
Production 082908-
Update for deinterlacer firmware (you'll see a 3rd progress bar
added to the update utility user interface). The deinterlacer
firmware update is the first half of getting 480i/1080i -> 24p
output. Bugfix for faint banding in dark scenes with certain
combinations of input/output resolutions. Bugfix for 1080 in to
480p out with NLS which in some cases resulted in corrupted
video. Note that due to the deinterlacer firmware update this
update is a little longer than most (~9 minutes). Bugfix for
audio issue with TOS inputs when used with analog video inputs.
Adds Black & Contrast settings under
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Color Mgmt menu (these settings are
combined with input settings). Adds rs232 commands for
automation of color management calibration (a user manual update is
in progress with these details but if you need them sooner just
email support). Some other minor bugfixes. WARNING:
Do not do a "force update" with
this particular revision.
4:3 and LBOX remote buttons broken in
this update...Production 072508-
Bugfix for problem present in rev 0711-0722 software that could
cause video to go blank with input format changes in some
situations. Minor improvements with SPDIF/TOS in to SPDIF out
audio path.
TOS->SPDIF broken in this update....Production 072108-
Bugfix for sometimes getting no/distorted audio on Radiance
spdif audio output after the 062008 software. Another bugfix for
sometimes not getting audio out on HDMI.
Production 071408-
Bugfix for video stuttering under some circumstances. Adds
output shrink command in the menu under
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Mask/Shrink . Output shrink will shrink
the video output window down on any edge which is useful if you
have a display that always crops some or all of the edges of the
video by some amount.
Production
071108- Adds virtual
inputs for HDMI inputs. This allows assigning input memories to
different physical inputs--so you could assign input memory 1A
to physical input 3 for instance. Input assignments can be made
in the menu under Input:HDMI Setup:Physical In. Adds a command
to disable/enable up/down arrows on remote used for zooming.
Find this command in the
menu under "Other:Zoom Setup". Some minor bugfixes.
Production 062008-
Fixes an issue where a calibrated color gamut combined with
certain conditions in the video could result in a splotchy look
in color saturated regions.
Production
061508- Bugfix for
analog/TOS audio inputs not always working (bug was in 0608-0612
revisions). Also you will need to be at this revision or newer
to use the new Configuration Utility program for the Radiance
that allows backing up/restoring your configuration from a PC.
See the
utilities
page for the Configuration Utility.
Production 061208-
Bugfix for lower IRE gamma calculations which were sometimes bad
enough to cause visible problems. Enhanced the function of the
output aspect per input aspect functionality with NLS. Now, when
selecting NLS with 4:3 input aspect the output aspect assigned
to the 16:9 input aspect entry will be used and when selecting
Lbox,16:9, and 1.85 input aspects with NLS the output aspect
assigned to the 2.35 input aspect entry is used. Another small
enhancement for input aspects Lbox,16:9, and 1.85 when
modified with NLS will now assert an output trigger if the
output trigger had been programmed to trigger for 2.35 input
aspect.
Production
061008- Fix for
Radiance occasionally powering on with corrupted color palette
causing weird looking video until power-cycled again or changing
the gamma up and back. Fix for the rs232 ZT command using to
short of a timeout.
Production 060908-
Bugfix for crop top edge (in Crop TopLeft command) not going
negative (instead went to a large number). Bugfix for a couple
of spdif audio issues in 060808 release.
Production
060808- Fix for
occasional burst of audio static when switching between some
sources on the Radiance and driving a Lexicon MC-12HD. Fix for
occasional dropping of coax audio using MC-12HD. These 2 fixes
can apply to similar problems driving other audio equipment but
we were testing with the MC-12HD. Bugfix for Scart input
corrupting svideo/composite inputs when switching between these
inputs. Added wrap around for going
up/down the menus. Added "Input Reselect" command in the menu
under Other:Menu Control. The default behavior (set to On) is to
reinitialize settings and display the input name when
reselecting an input.
Production Candidate 060108-
Bugfix for problems with snow/menu noise on some systems. Fixed
a couple of small issues with the gamut:bycolor test patterns.
Bugfix for intermittent vertical line on left side of screen
that was in a few recent revs of software and could occur in
situations when horizontal scaling was not needed. Fixed the
Vertical Shift command to use "Exit" to cancel and "OK" to
accept. Most text color in menus is now either white or yellow,
eliminating black in all but a few places. Other small bugfixes.
Production Candidate 052508-
Adds YC delay command under "Input:Video Setup:RES:Picture".
Adds vertical refresh rate selection to timing menu but limited
to 50 or 59.94 Hz currently. Bugfix for vertical resolution
issue where it would get stuck at 480/576 instead of the
correct resolution. Other bugfixes.
Beta
Release 051808- Improvement in
vertical resolution for 1080i and 1080sf24 output modes. Fix for
zoom with scale bias set to off that would give a smeared effect
on the right portion of the video output. Bugfix for NLS
combined with some other conditions that created jumbled output
video. Fix for 480i/576i dvi sources that would get reduced
horizontal resolution (could be easily seen with multiburst test
pattern) and may help 480i/576i on some hdmi sources as well. Other small bugfixes.
BetaRelease 050508-
Bugfix for NLS used with 16:9 (wouldn't allow you to press 16:9
again to turn off NLS) and other aspects with NLS wouldn't turn
off NLS if the previous input aspect was 2.35.
Beta
Release 050408- New method for gamut
white point implemented that eliminates issue of white point
affecting the colors (can slightly alter previous gamut
calibrations). Another gamut correction issue that involved a
calibrated gamut setup and low IRE colors not being weighted
toward the color gamut (reported as oversaturated colors at low
IRE) was also corrected. NLS (non-linear stretch) is now
implemented for other input aspect ratios, so letterbox, 16:9,
and 1.85 can be stretched for output aspects of 2.35 (or
anything greater than the input aspect up to 2.45). Some
usability changes made to input mask command. Zoom step command
was added to the menu under "Other:Zoom step".
BetaRelease 050108 (replaces 043008)-
Bugfix for the new vertical shift and input mask commands. Both
commands were supposed to be settable per input aspect but ended
up that setting it for one aspect also set it for the others.
This update corrects this---however you will have to assign the
masks/vertical shifts again. (rev043008 was only up for a couple
of hours).
Beta
Release 042908- Bugfix for the new
vertical shift command. Fixes the case of not clearing the
bottom of the screen when shifting video up and when output
resolution is less than input resolution.
BetaRelease 042808-
Adds input masking and vertical shift commands in the menu under
"Input:VideoSetup:RES:Size:ASPECT:". Vertical shift can be
used to position the input video up or down in the output frame.
Input masking can be used to cover any of the 4 sides of the
input video without changing its position or sizing relative to
the output frame. Adds an option to the trigger setup to be set
off on powerup. Adds rs232 commands for controlling triggers.
The command format is "ZY3<1,2><H,L>" (also a trailing CR,LF or
Null character is needed to complete the command). The
characters <1,2> selects the trigger and <H,L> sets it on or
off. So sending the string "ZY31L<CR>" will set trigger 1 low
(off). Bugfix for triggers not being changed when changing
inputs/memories. Bugfix for scale bias not turning off scaling
in some cases. Zoom setting was removed from Input menu (just
using up/down arrows to adjust).
Beta
Release 042308- Adds the rest of the
commands under the Save menu (Undo and Restore). Fixes a couple
of EDID issues with 24,25 and 30p sources. Added a bit more to
the status pages (displayed when you press 'Ok').
BetaRelease 042108-
Adds output masking (under Output:Configs:ConfigX:Mask/Shrink ).
Adds the "Scale bias" command under Input:VideoSetup:RES:Size:ASPECT:Scale
Bias " which can disable Radiance scaling in either
horizontal/vertical directions if the input resolution is close
to the output resolution. Added a second status page (press "Ok"
for status) that displays the status of horizontal/vertical
scaling. Adds the ability to save the service mode setting to
keep service mode on when powered off/on.
Beta
Release 041808- Adds RGBHV, RGBS, and
RGsB analog formats under the Input:Analog Setup:Type command.
Note only input 10 supports RGBHV (using inputs 18 & 17 for
hsync and vsync). Bugfix for the NLS (non-linear stretch)
command not working on a per input memory basis.
BetaRelease 041208-
Adds output aspect setting per input aspect (under
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Aspect ). You can select to have a single
output aspect for an output config or you can have a different
output aspect used per each input aspect. This allows a simpler
setup for users with moveable anamorphic lenses since they can
have the 2.35 input aspect also select a 2.35 output aspect.
Adds analog input A2D gain setting for the analog component
inputs under Input:Analog Setup:A2D Gain. Setting to
"Reduced" should correct the Nintendo Wii white level issue.
Change in default mode setting for 1080sf24 (hsync setting
changed from 44 to 88 gives better result on Qualia).
Bugfix on EDID that improves getting 1080p24 from sources (.ie
PS3 on auto for 24p now works with Radiance EDID set to
default). Bugfix for menu sometimes bouncing under certain
situations. Bugfix for warmup test pattern. Bugfix for
audio source selection between different memories on same input.
Several other small menu bugfixes.
Beta
Release 040808- Bugfix for input
video issue in the 040508 revision.
Don't
Use---occasionally when changing aspects input video is lost and
Radiance must be turned off/on to restore....
BetaRelease 040508-
Adds non-linear stretch functionality and menu command for
customization of NLS. The NLS remote button turns on NLS for the
current input aspect and only if the current input aspect is 4:3
will NLS be performed. We will be enabling it for other input
aspects later. To disable NLS for a 4:3 input aspect you need
only to re-select the 4:3 input aspect. The NLS parameters for
customization are under Input:Video
Setup:RES:Size:ASPECT:NLStretch. Bugfix for BTB stripes in
contrast pattern. Bugfix for menu color when exiting color
temp command. Changed default video edid to enable 24p,25p.
Moved positions of some color temp and color gamut that were not
already at the top so as to be readable when color probe is in
use.
Beta
Release 031708- Adds special command
to disable the "24p output with non-24p source" message---press
"menu 0917" to disable/enable it. Adds OSD disable/enable
command to menu under Other:Menu control:OSD enable--the OSD
refers to the small status message that pops up when pressing an
input, zoom or aspect button. Changed default mode timing for
1080p24. Bugfix for Output timing command not reverting back to
previous timing numbers when it should have. Fix for setting
output color format on an inactive output config. Fix for a case
of the OSD coming up with some red splotches on background.
BetaRelease 031408-
Continued bugfix of a color overflow issue in 030208-031008
revisions. Bugfix for output copy not copying output:color/hue
settings as part of CMS. Bugfix for reference test patterns
showing CMS settings (only adjustable patterns should show
this). Bugfix for test patterns not filling screen with
mismatched input and output aspect ratios. Fixes for setting
output dither and output timings for inactive output configs.
Beta
Release 031008- Bugfix for the rev 030208
bright white overflow issue. Adds the output config copy command
to copy different parameters between output configs (under
Output:Copy). Adds the input labeling command (under
Input:Label). Bugfix for switching between reference/adjustable
patterns when either the reference or adjustable pattern has
been left up (which is an easy way to A/B CMS adjustments with internal
patterns). Adds letter 'K' to rs232 interface to select 2.35
input aspect with no-zoom. Extra confirmation added to color
temp command when exiting.
BetaRelease 030208-
Adds linearized gamma before gamut correction and adds a gamma
factor for adjusting gamma up or down (under
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Color Mgmt: Gamma ) . After updating you
will initially not have linearized gamma or the ability to
adjust gamma-- you'll have to go into the "Color Gamut" command
and "Set Defaults" ( or you could do a total factory
reset). You'll need to do "Set Defaults" for each output config
you're using if you want to have linearized gamma into the gamut
adjustment or adjust gamma for that output config. An example on
using the new gamma factor setting: if you've measured your
displays' gamma to be 2.2 and you prefer 2.4 then set the gamma
factor to 1.1 (2.4/2.2 = 1.09)
Adds the input copy command for copying input settings between
input memories.
Some improvements were made to the commands under the Color Gamut
menu to make calibration a bit quicker. The biggest
improvement is in the "By Color" adjustment where you can now
directly enter a number as well as adjust with up/down arrows.
Some precision improvements were made to the video datapath. The
slow menu timeout was fixed (will keep menu commands up for 30
minutes). The video input level was moved up under the HDMI
Setup (or Analog Setup) menu since its a per input setting. A 6
second timeout was added to the "Non 24p...." warning message.
Beta
Release 022008- Adds programmable
output timing for display modes (in menu at
Output:Configs:ConfigX:Timing). Adds some more output modes to
"Select Mode" command (1080p48 among others). Bugfix for RGB
input types with PC levels causing color errors for dark colors.
Bugfix for vertical chroma edges. Bugfix for yellow, cyan
patterns in CMS. RS232 control of test patterns was fixed to
work as before. Some other small changes.
BetaRelease 020708-
Adds the output select mode command (Output:Configs:ConfigX:Select
Mode ) for selecting
output modes from a list. The list currently has 15 modes and
we'll be adding many more. 1080sf24 is in the list and shows a
display but is not running correctly yet (has tearing/judder). Bugfixes for 020108 sw (1080i deinterlacing and gamut/color
temperature test pattern issues). .
Note: this sw has
several bugs in it (one of them being 1080i-60 deinterlacing
stutter--occurred as result of a change for 24p)...new update
with fixes will be posted shortly...
Beta
Release 020108- Adds 1080p24 output
mode (currently only works well for 1080p24 sources). Press
"menu 020" to load 1080p24 output mode. Adds white point to
color gamut configuration. Adds window patterns (small & large)
to gamut and color temperature commands. Adds color window
patterns (small & large) to test pattern command. Adds a test
pattern with squares that are square for the current output
aspect ratio called "Aspect Squares". The test pattern command
now has some groupings of patterns so you still use the
right/left arrows to cycle through the groups and press '4' to
cycle through patterns in the group. Test patterns load onto the
screen much more quickly.
BetaRelease 011508-
Bugfix for the "By color" gamut command that would show wrong
colors in some situations. Added menu timeout control to the
menu under Other:Menu control. Several test patterns were left
out of the 011408 update and they're back in.
Beta
Release 011408- Couple of color gamut
menu bugfixes. Corrected 100% smpte pattern and solid color
fields in the "By color" gamut menu. Minor user interface
improvement in the "By matrix" gamut command.
BetaRelease 011308-
Bugfix for a color calculation error in 011208 release wherein
certain color values would cause an error resulting
in a color that would be obviously wrong.
Beta
Release 011208- Replaces gamut matrix
with 3D color look-up-table algorithm allowing calibration of
primaries and secondaries as well as maintaining grayscale.
Can set up secondaries to be automatically calculated. The color
points are set at 100% saturation. Adds 100% color bar
test pattern which goes well with setting up colors at the 100%
points. Adds film mode setting under Input: Video
Setup:XXX:Control:Deint which is useful for some PAL film
sources. Fixes and improves the output dither. Fixes a
video/PC level issue in the 1217-1219 sw. Fixes a bug with video
edid settings not being used if powered up on memories B-D.
Fixes up incorrect timing for 540p output (set by pressing "menu
022")--in order to switch to the new timing if you're already
set up for 540p you would need to switch to another mode like
480p ("menu 021") and then back. Other bugfixes.
Recommend not
using---input video level for YCbCr broken and CMS changes still
coming....BetaRelease 121907-
Some bugfixes for the 121707 release: picture made worse in some
cases, built in test pattern
colors were undersaturated, gamut values had too small of an
effect (they now have 4x the effect but upon doing the update
they will get divided down by 4 so you won't have to divide them
manually), limit checks on the "by color" gamut entry method were
not correct. Also for the "by matrix" gamut entry method the
matrix was moved down from the center of the screen.
Recommend not
using---input video level for YCbCr broken and CMS changes still coming...Beta
Release 121707- Adds 2D/3D (aka
temporal) noise reduction. Adds adaptive contrast enhancement. Adds directional
sharpness and texture settings. The noise/contrast/sharpness settings are
all found under the Input:Video Setup:XXX:Enhance menu. Modifies the primary
gamut controls so that they now affect the secondaries and adds a direct
matrix entry option in the menu. Fixed some small color conversion
errors in the video datapath. Adds hotplug mode setting (under
Input:HDMI Setup) for situations where the source does not tolerate hotplug
retriggering for EDID updates. Numerous bugfixes.
BetaRelease 112307-
From around 111107-112207 some users were seeing issues with
HDCP handshaking which made it take a while to get a picture.
Some changes were made to improve this
BetaRelease 112007-
Another bugfix (fix mentioned in 111207 did not work for some
cases) for switching output types and ending up with the
incorrect one (would result in bizarrely colored video). Bugfix
for adjustable test patterns sometimes not using the output
settings. Other bugfixes.
Beta
Release 111207- Fixes a bug that
would occur in some cases when using YCbCr422 or 444 output type and
switching between sources would give incorrect output type (resulting in
bizarrely colored video). Also switching between HDMI input sources in some
cases is faster. Couple other small bugfixes.
Beta
Release 110707- Bugfix for
faint red line on right edge with 1080p out and 1080p in. Bugfix for many
non-hdcp sources like AppleTV. Several audio bugfixes mainly for non-hdmi
audio sources. Several other small bug fixes. --late
update----this version has a bug such that if you're watching an
HDCP src and change the output resolution you won't see the video until you
turn the radiance or display off and on (or unplug the display cable and
plug back in)--we'll have this fixed asap.
BetaRelease 110207-
Adds output type setting (RGB, YCbCr422, YCbCr444) in the output
menu under Output:Configs:XXX: . Output type was previously
always RGB so that's what you'll initially still be using unless
you change it. Adds output dither setting next to the new output
type setting. The output dither can make a difference for the
YCbCr 422 output type if the display is using less than 12 bits,
so you would set it to 8 or 10 bpp to match what the display is
using. Also adds output color format setting which is only
useful with the new YCbCr output types. The "auto" setting
should be fine for this but if you suspect your display is using
the wrong format it can be set manually to match. Adds the
analog Scart input type for inputs 7-10 which you can set under
the Input menu. Several small bugfixes.
Beta
Release 103007- Primary color
gamut has been significantly improved
and the ability to toggle between viewing the primary color and the video
source while making the adjustment was added to the command.
BetaRelease 102507- Adds
test patterns under the "Other" menu item. Test patterns can be
left up as you modify settings though only output settings
affect them since the intent is to calibrate the path from the
Radiance to your display. Bugfix for incorrect color conversion
when the input source was SD component (either HDMI or analog
component inputs). Bugfix for HDMI audio not always working into
a receiver/pre-amp. A bugfix for video stuttering when Radiance
HDMI output was connected to a receiver/pre-amp but
receiver/pre-amp was selecting another source. Other small
bugfixes.
BetaRelease 102107- Adds
the color temperature command in the output menu under Output:Configs:XXX:Color
Mgmt. Full field test patterns are available at the points being
edited. Just cycle through the points with the arrow button to
get to them. Couple small bugfixes.
Beta
Release 101807- Bugfix for
stuttering video with some HDMI sources. Doubles the range on primary gamut
control. Bugfix for audio not initially being on for inputs set up with TOS/SPDF
audio. Bugfix for some menu timeout issues. Bugfixes for using non-HDMI
audio inputs with HDMI video inputs. Current audio input now displayed in
main menu. Other minor bugfixes.
BetaRelease 101107- Adds
output color management menu under Output:Configs:XXX:Color
Mgmt. Under this menu we've added primary color gamut adjustment
controls. This commands allow adjustment of the primary colors
and automatically fills the raster with the primary color being
adjusted. You really need a color probe to do this adjustment
correctly. Also under the new Color Mgmt menu we relocated the
Output Level setting, put a placeholder for the Color
Temperature command, and added an output Color/Hue command. The
input Color/Hue command still exists but the new version in the
output menu gives you one place to do color correction for the
display. Then use the input Color/Hue command to make any
necessary adjustment for source color/hue differences. So the
effective color/hue applied to the video uses the output
color/hue settings as the base and the specific input memories
color/hue setting as an offset from that. Also, the input Color
default was changed to 128 so although your color will not
change the displayed value will be different by -16.
Adds control of the output triggers in the menu under
Other:Trigger Out. You can set either trigger to go high for
Power, or input aspect settings of 4:3 or 2.35 for use with
masking systems. Adds menu control of the LED found in the menu
under Other:LED Setup. The LED now blinks either on or off when
remote buttons are pressed.
Bugfix for stuttering issue seen with Toshiba HD DVD players.
Bugfix for composite inputs sometimes not locking onto source.
Other small bugfixes.
BetaRelease 100507- Adds
the analog/TOS/coax audio inputs and coax audio output features.
There are default audio inputs for each video input but you can match these
them up any way you like in the menu under Input:Audio Setup: Source.
Improvements to the Audio menu were made and there is now a list
for
user defined audio features instead of only allowing one
feature to be set. Adds the auto power-on feature into the menu
under Other:OnOff Action:Auto On . More audio bugfixes. There
are some issues we're still working on with the newly
added analog/TOS/coax inputs going out on the HDMI outputs (not
always working initially depending on audio receiver and previous HDMI
audio type).
Beta
Release 092507- Bugfix for
horizontal shift of image when downscaling and using 2.35 input aspect
ratio. Bugfix for video noise occurring in some situations on inputs 5 & 6.

BetaRelease 091707- Bugfix

would result in a blue screen. Fixed an audio bug for detecting
48<->96Khz changes (or other rate changes for that matter).
Beta
Release 091507- Adds much more
HDMI control for audio/video. You can now send 1080p out to your display and
the audio over the 2nd HDMI output to a pre-amp/receiver with a blank 1080i
signal as well as passing back the audio devices EDID to your source. You
could have the video go to output 2 as well but many pre-amp/receivers won't
take 1080p. To set this up you would navigate in the menu to Output->Output2
and turn video off for output 2 for all inputs. Then under the Audio menu
set up "Always" use "Out2 EDID" with at least HDMI2 audio output being on.
Multi-channel PCM now works. Many audio related bugfixes.
BetaRelease 082607- Bugfix
for audio bug that due to audio format changes would result in
audio loss and sometimes interruption of video on HDMI inputs.
Please let us know on the Radiance beta forum if this
fixes/improves your audio issue or not. UPDATE: This update has
mixed results for the described audio problem--feel free to give
it a try but we're still working on a complete fix UPDATE: This update does fix
the described audio bug, the mixed result turned out to be a bad
unit.
Beta
Release 081507- Adds HDMI
audio in with audio out on HDMI outputs only. Currently the default is 2
channel PCM. By setting the EDID (under Input:HDMI Setup: EDID Setup) to passback
from output 1 or 2 you can enable other audio formats that are supported by the downstream HDMI device.
When you change the EDID setup you need to do a Save and power down and back
up (to cause devices to read the new EDID information). Future updates will enable more audio capabilities. Also a small HDCP bugfix.
BetaRelease 081107- Bugfix
for setting EDID when on memories B-D (note currently the EDID
setting is common across memories A-D currently). EDID audio
setting was removed as it is moving to another location in menu

Release 080307- Adds output
config selection per input memory/resolution changes. Set up which output
config to use in the menu under Input:Video Setup:RES:Out1 Select. So
for a given input memory and resolution (selected by the RES navigated to in
the menu) you can select 1 of the 8 output configs. Output 2 is currently
always a copy of output 1. Also, some bugfixes for auto color format
detection with HDMI inputs.
BetaRelease 073107- Adds
level control for sidebars and top/bottom bars to the output
menu (under Configs:config:Other:Graybar:Sides and Top/bottom.
Several small bug fixes.
BetaRelease 072807- Adds video EDID controls for HDMI
inputs in the input menu (under Input:HDMI Setup:EDID
Setup:Video). You can use the default EDID which now enables
YCbCr 422 and 444 color formats or choose to "passback" the EDID
from either output or a "User Defined" mode lets you selectively
disable features. You can see what color format is being
used on an HDMI input by checking the Info screen in the menu or
pressing "ok" when the menu is not active.
Beta
Release 072607- Fixes a configuration
bug in 0723-0725 that caused saved settings to be lost when updating from
0722 or earlier sw. Unfortunately if you already updated to 0723-0725 and
reprogrammed your settings they will be lost again when you update to this
or future updates. We're sorry for the inconvenience.
